Universal Children's Day

children
By resolution 836(IX) of 14 December 1954, the General Assembly recommended that all countries institute a Universal Children's Day, to be observed as a day of worldwide fraternity and understanding between children. It recommended that the Day was to be observed also as a day of activity devoted to promoting the ideals and objectives of the Charter and the welfare of the children of the world. The Assembly suggested to governments that the Day be observed on the date and in the way which each considers appropriate. The date 20 November, marks the day on which the Assembly adopted the Declaration of the Rights of the Child, in 1959, and the Convention on the Rights of the Child, in 1989.
Nearly 25 years ago, the world made a promise to children: that we would do everything in our power to protect and promote their rights to survive and thrive, to learn and grow, to make their voices heard and to reach their full potential. In spite of the overall gains, there are many children who have fallen even further behind. Old challenges have combined with new problems to deprive many children of their rights and the benefits of development.
To meet these challenges, and to reach those children who are hardest to reach, we need new ways of thinking and new ways of doing - for adults and children.
There is much to celebrate as we mark the 25th anniversary of the Convention, from declining infant mortality to rising school enrolment, but this historic milestone must also serve as an urgent reminder that much remains to be done. Too many children still do not enjoy their full rights on par with their peers.

DOGS THAT WENT GAGA

Hmmmmm...........
I remember while growing up as a child,i was told that Dogs are Man's best friend and dogs are domestic animals.Do you are agree with this? with reference to four year old omonigho who was attacked by two dogs and his scalp brutally bitten by the two dogs few weeks ago at igando area of Lagos.
A sad one indeed. It was a painful and sad experience for little Omonigho Abraham.
News gathered that the little boy was helpless as no one was able to rescue him until his mother arrived, took a brave heart and snatched him from the two dogs.
This little boy has suffered for someone's negligence by letting dangerous dogs loose.

However,here are some tips on HOW TO GUARD AND KEEP DOGS;
- A dog is declared dangerous when it has caused serious injury or death to a person or animal by attacking or biting. Therefore dangerous dogs should be confined in a strongly built cage or properly locked in an enclosure.
- Kids should not be allowed to stay close to wild and dangerous dogs because such dogs see them as prey.
- Dogs should be given medical  attention.
- Dogs should be fed well at all time.
-Dogs are not human,as they may bite out of blue.
- People who have dangerous dogs should have dangerous dog signs on their post or entrances.
- Dogs must be registered with the detail of the owner.
- Red and yellow striped collar should be worn be worn on dangerous dogs.
- Dogs must be kept under proper control by its owner.
- Owners of dogs are subject to criminal offences or penalties if their dog kills someone or endangers someone's life.

BEWARE OF PETS ESPECIALLY  DOGS

Cast your mind back 15 years or so and Victoria Beckham might have been the sole champion of the leather dress. Remember that off-the-shoulder shiny number the popstrel-come-designer wore to her first catwalk show - Versus Versace - back in 2007?

There's something so easy on the eye about looking through DJ Solange Knowles' hot-off-the-press wedding photos. In addition to the beautifully weathered backdrop of New Orleans' French Quarter, the fact that all the guests wore the same colour made for an enjoyable tableau.

TRAGEDY AT JAKANDE ESTATE

Oh my gosh! oh my gosh! oh my gosh!.hmmmmm...it's really a sad one indeed.i am totally speechless. PARENTS,WHY?
Well, news gathered that a family lost three children, all at the same time, named Durosimi, Temiloluwa and Ayomide.
It's shocking and heart-braking to hear that some days ago little children of same parents who are the future leaders of tomorrow lost their precious lives over a candle light.
This ugly incident happened on Tuesday night at at jakande estate, mile 2, lagos,as children where left alone at night.
Source gathered that parents of these children were not home as candle light consumed their flat and burnt the three children to death. more shocking to hear that as parents of the little children came and saw the disaster, their condition became critical and was rushed to the hospital.
My Blog Readers, How do you feel about this shocking disaster? Do we blame the parents? Neighbours? The Children? Power sector? Candle sales? or everyone is to be blamed?

THEREFORE, Miss Juvenile advices that:
  • Parents should not lock children in rooms without a guardian or an adult.
  • kids should not be allowed to use or lit candle
  • Neighbours should always be at alert or be conscious of things happening around their neighbourhood.
  • People should not lit and leave candle on while asleep or going to bed at night.
  • Kids should not be left alone for too long as they are fast in picking up things around them.
  • All Homes should have fire extinguisher.

Uganda Army Suspends 15 for Somalia Allegations

Uganda's military has suspended 15 soldiers who were peacekeepers in Somalia over various allegations of misconduct, a military spokesman said Thursday.
The suspended soldiers include two generals who were deployed to Somalia as part of the African Union force there.
He said the action was part of what he called "a general performance assessment" of Uganda's peacekeeping duties in Somalia, but did not specify the allegations against the former peacekeepers.
The suspensions follow a Human Rights Watch report last September that cited the sexual abuse and exploitation of Somali women by African Union troops in the Somali capital Mogadishu. The rights group said at the time that African Union troops from Uganda and Burundi, relying on Somali intermediaries, "used a range of tactics, including humanitarian aid, to coerce vulnerable women and girls into sexual activity." Some soldiers had refused to wear condoms, passing on sexually transmitted infections, the group's report said.
Maria Burnett, a senior researcher in Africa for Human Rights Watch, said Thursday that she hoped there would a full investigation into the allegations of sexual abuse. "We are pleased to see that there are a range of investigations into sexual exploitation and abuse within AMISOM," she said, referring to the African Union mission in Somalia. "We hope investigations ensure the safety of victims and witnesses, and we look forward to a public report with more details of the inquiries and any prosecutions."
This is not the first time Ugandan troops in Somalia face allegations of misconduct. Last year about 40 Ugandan soldiers, including a brigadier-general who held a position near the top of the peacekeeping force, were recalled from Somalia and arrested over allegations they stole from the mission.
Since 2007 Ugandan troops have been deployed to Somalia, where the African Union force helps the country's Western-backed government to fight the Islamic extremist rebels of al-Shabab.
